About KAHM

In 1983 Harry Marland, a teacher at Kirkcudbright Academy, started the Half Marathon as a fundraiser for extra-curricular activities, equipment and projects for the pupils.

Sadly Harry passed away in 2016 but the annual Marathon now in its 37th year, runs on, and the funds raised for school are just as much needed and appreciated as they ever were.

Fun for all the family!

This is a festival of four events consisting of a half marathon distance Walk starting at 9:00am followed by the 1.2 mile Fun Run at 10.30am. The Half Marathon and 10K running events start at 11:00am.  This event takes place in Scotland's artists' town of Kirkcudbright, located on the beautiful south coast of Dumfries & Galloway.

There are also various stalls of interest - something for everyone - a fun day out!

This event is organised by Race Director Richard Nash with the Kirkcudbright Academy Parent Council and run by volunteer pupils, teachers, janitors and parents. In fact the whole town becomes involved in the big day, and thanks go to Annie’s Aiders, Douglas Swan and Sons, Kirkcudbright Summer Festivities, Kirkcudbright Rotary Club, Mark Hutton, Andy Campbell and Sons, Supersave, the Co-Op and Tesco’s, Kirkcudbright,

For a stall in the Academy field please contact Michelle McClure at the Academy on 01557330440
