Welcome
Although the government has moved the bank holiday in 2012 to coincide with the Queen's Jubilee, we have decided after a great deal of thought to keep our race date the same as usual at the end of May. This means that you can come along and enjoy the race on Saturday 26th May and still be able to enjoy the celebrations the following weekend if you wish to do so.
The 28th Kirkcudbright Academy Half Marathon and Beeches Run, held on Saturday, 28th May 2011, was a great success despite the mixed weather. Special thanks to Alan Bell, official starter of the London 2012 Olympics, who started off both races.
The event is staffed entirely by volunteers and we thank them wholeheartedly for the time, energy and commitment they give each year. In particular we thank:
- Staff, pupils, parents, and friends of Kirkcudbright Academy
- Raynet
- Red Cross
- Dumfries & Galloway Constabulary
- Mark Hutton
- Summer Festivities
- Harry Marland
- Hayton Coulthard
- Our sponsors: Tesco Metro Kirkcudbright, The Galloway News, Dumfries and Galloway Life, Sainsbury's Newton Stewart.
Many thanks to those who came to entertain, and to all stall holders.
